Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has advised judges not to unjustly free thugs who have been detained for violent crimes, citing the fact that doing so fuels the growth of crime and criminality.

The governor emphasised the danger that frequent releases of criminals and thugs from jail pose to the public safety of the state, emphasising the need for fair and efficient justice systems rather than the hasty release of prisoners.

In a similar spirit, the governor also requested that state security agencies put an immediate stop to thuggery and other criminal activity that is upsetting the calm in particular parts of Kano City.

At the start of the Kano State Executive Council’s fifteenth weekly meeting, which was held at the Government House on Saturday, Governor Yusuf delivered the orders.

He condemned the recent spike in violence and brawls involving Yan Daba. He declared that the state will not stand by while dishonest people jeopardise the relative peace and quietness that law-abiding residents of the state enjoy.

He declared that in order to guarantee the public’s safety and security, as well as that of their belongings at all times, the state administration is working closely with the appropriate security agencies.
