The Katsina State Government has closed 22 privately-run health training centers for failing to comply with the required basic academic and professional standards necessary for operating within the state.

This was disclosed by Hon. Umar Mammada, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tertiary Health Institutions, during a press briefing where he shared the outcomes of a review panel appointed by the government.

“I am concerned about the number of private health training colleges in Katsina. Many of these colleges do not meet acceptable healthcare training standards,” Hon. Mammada indicated.

“The panel was constituted on October 25, 2024 to determine whether the private health training institutions in Katsina were compliant with academic, infrastructural and professional standards.

“Of the 31 private health institutions across the state the panel assessed, only nine were compliant with the necessary academic, infrastructural and professional standards,” Hon. Mammada stated.

“The other 22 will remain closed until they comply with the guidelines presented by the regulators.”

He emphasized that only qualified training institutions will be allowed to operate in the state henceforth.
