The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has announced a N2 billion intervention fund for infrastructural development at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere, Abeokuta. The governor also awarded N2.5 million each to the best graduating students from the 2015/2016 to 2023/2024 academic sessions.

Speaking during the 15th combined convocation, Abiodun said, “Let me use this opportunity to unveil some of the intervention projects that we want to embark upon in the polytechnic. We shall be building 500 seater ultramodern lecture theatre… a well-equipped modern library, a building for the accountancy department, some other road projects, all of these interventions stand at N2bn.”

The governor challenged the 51,000 graduating students to “be daring, innovative and resilient” and make a positive impact in the world. “Go forth and make a difference, go and impact your immediate environment, the state, the country, the world at large and forever be a proud ambassador of this great institution,” he said.

The Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Babatunde Jolaoso, thanked the governor for his support and pledged to continue pursuing academic excellence and sustainability. The Chairman of the Governing Council, Emeritus Professor Kamaldeen Balogun, also appreciated the governor’s leadership and support.

The convocation lecture was delivered by Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who urged the youth to migrate legally and avoid calamitous stories. She encouraged the institution to design policies that foster collaboration with Nigerians in the diaspora.
