Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has responded to the threat posed by three former governors of the State, who intend to take him to court for managing the State’s functions from his private residence in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area.
During his monthly media chat with journalists on Thursday, the Governor addressed questions about the threat and stated that he had not violated the Nigerian constitution by working from his residence.
He clarified that he continued to operate from his home due to the inadequate state of the Government House facility when he assumed leadership.
He pointed out that work on the run-down Government House was in progress, contending that Abia people care more about the quality of governance they are receiving than about Otti’s location of operation.
“Somebody said he will sue me for not operating from his house in Umuahia; well, I am waiting for the suit. My Lawyers are prepared.
“I have looked at the constitution and I didn’t see where there is a provision that I must operate from a place”, Otti said.
Governor Otti stated that his administration would not be sidetracked by what he termed “noise” from critics, and reassured the people of Abia that ongoing projects in roads, education, health, and electricity would proceed throughout the State.
The Governor additionally called on the people of Abia to stay aware of security matters and to inform the nearest security personnel of any unusual movements or individuals.
