Georgia Southern University Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a gunfire incident that occurred in the Residential 1 parking lot on the Armstrong Campus on May 13, 2025. The incident involved individuals not enrolled at the university, and one person was injured, receiving medical attention.

A shelter-in-place order was issued as a precaution while officers secured the scene and investigated. The order was lifted after officers determined there was no ongoing threat to the campus community.
According to the police, preliminary findings indicate the individuals involved were known to each other. A suspect was taken into custody at an off-campus location and charged with aggravated assault. The investigation remains active, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
