Gunmen attack TIV settlement, kill one, injure two

In the early hours of Wednesday, unknown gunmen launched a violent attack on a TIV settlement in Ogwutu village, located in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State, resulting in the death of one man and injuries to two women.

According to security sources who spoke with Zagazola Makama, the incident took place at approximately 5:00 a.m. along Iyade Road. The attackers reportedly entered the community, opened fire without restraint, and torched several residential buildings.

The man killed in the assault has been identified as 35-year-old Yega Hosamo. Two women, Veronica Jacob Alakashe and Nguvelen Kaase, suffered gunshot wounds—one in the arm and the other in the lower part of the body.

Both injured women are receiving medical attention at Ochala Memorial Clinic in Abejukolo.

Authorities have moved the deceased’s remains to the General Hospital Mortuary, where an autopsy is expected to be conducted.

Meanwhile, a full-scale investigation has been launched to identify and apprehend those behind the attack.
