Aisha Yesufu, a co-convener of the now-defunct BringBackOurGirls movement, has given an explanation for her decision to join the coalition alongside Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, in spite of their animosity.

In response to social media criticism, Yesufu maintained that nation-building is not “a romantic affair.”

She claims that El-Rufai’s nuisance value will be helpful when they try to overthrow President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Yesufu wrote on X: “Nasir El Rufai @elrufai has a nuisance value: his anger and vindictiveness, and you think I will not use that?

“Let me laugh in 3D!!!!!!

“You think Nation building is a romantic affair? I am okay with looking bad while you look good.”
