After a female student at Delta State University of Science and Technology named Ozoro was viciously attacked by a male acquaintance in the school auditorium, a suspected attempted murder and fictitious kidnapping episode rocked Delta State.

The disturbing circumstances of the incident were disclosed by SP Edafe Bright, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, in an interview with Sahara TV. He said that the victim had been falsely invited to the auditorium by the suspect. When he arrived, he savagely attacked her.

“This girl, on that fateful day, went to see him at that auditorium. Whatever conversation they had, the suspect stabbed this girl twice on her neck and stabbed her also in the chest region,” SP Edafe narrated.

The culprit stabbed the woman, thought she was dead, then stole her phone and called her father, saying she had been abducted. In order to free her, he requested a two million naira ransom.

“He took the girl’s phone and called her father that the girl has been kidnapped and a ransom of N2 million should be sent for the girl to regain her freedom,” Edafe said.

But when the victim—who was critically injured and unconscious—managed to mutter the name of the person she had gone to meet, the suspect’s scheme fell apart.

“Unfortunately for him, he never knew the poor girl did not die. While she was still unconscious, she was able to mention the name of the friend whom she went to see that attempted to murder her,” Edafe explained.

The school administration quickly conducted a search after she made her statement and called the suspect. Shortly thereafter, he was taken into custody.

A blind husband discovers he has been deceived for years once he regains his sight but chooses not to tell his wife.

“It is good news that the poor girl did not die,” SP Edafe concluded.
