Mercy Johnson-Okojie, a Nollywood actress, has spoken out about the circulating rumors that she had weight loss surgery.

The actress, who is well-known for her curvaceous body and lively on-screen persona, flatly rejected having surgery, stating that she wouldn’t even entertain the idea due to her husband’s rigid traditional beliefs.

The mother of four humorously asked how she could get surgery when her Esan husband wouldn’t even let her get a second ear piercing in a recent video posted on her social media profile on May 1, 2025, in response to supporters and critics. “You think I can tear my belly when I can’t pierce my ear?” she asked, laughing off the speculation.

The actress claimed that intentional lifestyle adjustments, such as food and exercise, were the cause of her metamorphosis. After giving birth to her final kid in 2020, she attributed her fitness journey to postpartum health objectives. “I worked for my body. I stayed consistent. This wasn’t surgery—it was sweat, discipline, and healthy choices,” she added.

Mercy, who has been married to Prince Odianosen Okojie since 2011, stressed that her choices, particularly those pertaining to physical changes, are greatly influenced by her husband’s cultural heritage.

The pair, who are well-known for their conservative values and close-knit family life, have frequently posted online snippets of their relationship, supporting her claim.

The actress also urged the public to accept women’s bodies and the work required to accomplish personal goals, cautioning critics against body-shaming and needless assumptions. “Stop dragging people like you know what they go through. Not every slim waist was bought,” she said.

Her supporters swiftly came together in her favor, pouring messages of encouragement and appreciation for her candor into the comment area. She was commended by many for remaining authentic in a field that is frequently controlled by idealized beauty standards and filtered realities.

Mercy’s response struck a chord with other mothers as well, who found it to be empowering and relevant.

In addition to clearing the air, Mercy Johnson’s adamant denial of surgical rumors gives another voice to the expanding discussion about body autonomy, openness, and the social constraints women face in the public glare. Once more, her path serves as evidence of genuineness in a time of fast solutions.
