Health Commission celebrates 6 years of providing healthcare services to pregnant women in Ondo

The Ondo State Contributory Health Commission has marked six years of providing healthcare services to the residents of the state. The Director-General of the commission, Dr Abiodun Oyeneyin, disclosed that a total of 55,557 pregnant women have benefited from the Abiyamo Maternal and Child Health Insurance Scheme since its establishment.

Dr Abiodun Oyeneyin, Director-General: “In six years, the Abiyamo Scheme has recorded over 55,557 beneficiaries (pregnant women and children below five years of age). Over 18,305 babies have been delivered, with 5,107 being through Caesarean section. We have 436 twins, 11 triplets and two quadruplets.

The Abiyamo scheme is one of the schemes under the Ondo State Contributory Health Commission, established to mitigate financial barriers to accessing healthcare. Oyeneyin encouraged residents of the state to take advantage of the government’s health initiatives to access healthcare services.

Dr. Abiodun Oyeneyin: “Our goal is to increase our coverage by 1 million enrollees in the next two years. We are glad for bringing relief and hope to countless families in the Sunshine State.”

The commission’s efforts have made a significant impact on the lives of many families in Ondo State, providing them with access to quality healthcare services. The celebration marked a milestone in the commission’s journey to improve healthcare outcomes in the state
