Dr Shehu Sambo, a medical professional and the director of Jigawa State’s Primary Healthcare Development Agency (PHCDA), has cautioned the public about working in direct sunlight.
In a statement about the health effects of the extreme heat currently being felt in certain northern states, he issued the warning and shared it on his Facebook page.
He said, “Northern Nigeria is passing through a severe heat wave not experienced in a long time.”
He clarified that there are numerous health risks associated with the circumstance, including heat stroke, extreme dehydration, and kidney stone issues.
“Predisposition to the spread of some infections like meningitis and so many other health related issues” is one of the additional consequences, according to Dr. Sambo.
He suggested that individuals sleep in an area with good ventilation and drink much water.
