‘Help me marry before Fulani herdsmen kill me’ – Facebook post of murdered Benue graduate goes viral

According to reports, a young Nigerian graduate named Mathias Yogboh was murdered in a new attack on the Benue State hamlet of Aondona by suspected Fulani militia.

Jagaban, also known as Yogboh, was a University of Calabar Religious Education graduate.

His passing has caused a great deal of grief and indignation, especially after a Facebook post he made a few weeks prior to his murder reappeared online.

Yogboh wrote in the post from April 20: “Help me look for a better wife to marry before Fulani kill me, making me die as a childless person.”

According to local sources, armed herdsmen killed Yogboh during a bloody raid. This was one of several attacks that have been plaguing Benue’s rural communities.

Human rights advocate Ukan Kurugh responded to the tragedy by calling his death “tragic.”

In a tribute, he wrote: “He once shared his fears… now he’s gone. Not long ago, he voiced his deepest fear — the threat of Fulani terrorist herdsmen. Tragically, that fear became his reality.”

”They took him from us. A voice silenced. A life cut short. A family shattered. Rest in peace, dear brother. You didn’t deserve this.”
