Mike Ejeagha, who died at the age of 95, was regarded by President Bola Tinubu as one of Nigeria’s best Igbo-language musicians, songwriters, and folklorists.

He sent his deepest sympathies to the musician’s family, friends, and countless admirers on Friday.

Tinubu wrote in a sympathy note signed by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, on Saturday, that Mike Ejeagha inspired generations by preserving and projecting Igbo culture and customs through his music and unique storytelling style.

Tinubu observed that Gentleman Mike Ejeagha’s music’s passion and principles “continue to remind us that music has the power to revive, heal and redirect energy towards worthy causes that help build our nation”.

He praised the Enugu State Government, under the leadership of Governor Peter Mbah, for paying tribute to the music legend while he was still living and prayed to God to give the deceased’s soul eternal rest and solace to everyone who is grieving his passing.
