Kenneth Okonkwo was referred to as a mole by the Labour Party (LP), which said that his resignation from the party was expected.
The Party called Okonkwo’s attack on Peter Obi, its nominee for president in 2023, regrettable and attention-grabbing.
According to ZINGTIE, LP chieftain Okonkwo stated on Sunday that he no longer trusted Obi to create a party capable of winning elections.
The actor-turned-politician claims that Obi has demonstrated that he has the necessary skills to win the mandate, even if the public votes for him.
He went on to say that he is determined to change the direction of his political career because of the recent events within the party.
In response, Obiora Ifoh, the LP’s National Publicity Secretary, stated in a statement that Okonkwo’s departure from the party was expected.
Ifoh claimed that Okonkwo’s criticism of Obi was seen by the party as regrettable and attention-grabbing.
“Kenneth Okonkwo’s resignation from the Labour Party didn’t come to us as a surprise. We also think that his attack on the party’s leader, Peter Obi, is rather unfortunate
“However, we will continue not to dignify him with any response, as we understand that his attention-craving attitude knows no bounds,” he said.
The spokesperson for the LP stated that the party was still planning to back Obi for president in 2027.
