History made: Varsity Appoints First Female Registrar

The Federal University Gusau Governing Council has approved the appointment of Hajiya Nafisa Barau Suleiman as the university’s third substantive registrar. According to Dr Linus Akor, Head of Media and Communications, the appointment was approved at the council’s 29th meeting.

Dr. Akor stated, “The appointment of the new registrar was approved at the 29th meeting of the Council held from Tuesday, April 22nd to Friday, April 25th, 2025, in Abuja.” Hajiya Suleiman holds an M.A. English Language degree and is the first female Registrar of the institution

Prior to her appointment, she had acted as Registrar after the completion of the former Registrar’s tenure. “Hajiya N.B. Suleiman had acted as the Registrar, following the completion of the tenure of the former Registrar, Malam Yakubu Anivbassa, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.”

Hajiya Suleiman has also served as Deputy Registrar in the office of the Vice Chancellor and Faculty Officer. The university management expects her to “bring her wealth of administrative and allied experience to bear positively on the running of the exalted office.”

The statement concluded, “The University Management wishes the new appointee Allah’s support and guidance in the discharge of the responsibilities attached to the office.
