Actor Gene Hackman, his wife Betsy Arakawa, and their dog were found dead in their New Mexico home on Wednesday afternoon.

Denise Avila, the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer, confirmed the discovery to ABC News on Thursday morning.

The couple was found following a welfare check, initiated after a neighbor expressed concern about their well-being.

Hackman, an Academy Award-winning actor, was known for his roles in “The French Connection,” “The Conversation,” and “The Royal Tenenbaums,” among many other iconic Hollywood films. He passed away at the age of 95.

Authorities stated that there was no immediate evidence suggesting foul play in the couple’s death.
