HOT NEWS: 10 Things to Know about Senator Ifeanyi Ubah

Following the passing of one of its members, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, in London, United Kingdom, on Saturday, the Nigerian Senate has extended its sincere condolences.

September 3 was Senator Ubah’s 53rd birthday. Senator Ubah was the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil.

Both the country as a whole and the Anambra South Senatorial District suffer a great loss with his demise.

Important facts to know about Senator Ifeanyi Ubah

  1. Age and Early Life: On September 3, 2024, Ubah would have turned 53 years old. He died at the age of 52.
  2. Education: Ubah left Premiere Academy in Lugbe, Abuja at an early age to learn trade due to financial difficulties. Later, he went to a number of local and international business seminars and courses.
  3. Escaped Death: In September 2022, Ubah escaped an attempted murder by gunmen in the Anambra State village of Enugwu-Ukwu. Two police officers were among the at least five persons who died in the attack on his convoy. It was because to his bulletproof car that Ubah lived.
  4. Business ventures: After expanding his company into Belgium and the UK, Ubah started exporting motor tires and spare components to West Africa.
  5. Capital Oil: He established Capital Oil in 2001, and it possesses one of Lagos’s biggest tank farms for the delivery and storage of petroleum products.
  6. The Authority Newspaper: On October 15, 2015, Ubah launched The Authority Newspaper, a daily Nigerian publication.
  7. Football Club: After buying Gabros International Football Club, he formed Ifeanyi Ubah F.C., a team that plays in the Nigeria Premier League. Additionally, he founded the Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation.
  8. Political Career: Ubah ran for governor of Anambra in 2014 on the Labour Party ticket, however she was unsuccessful. On February 24, 2019, he was elected to the Senate from Anambra South on the ticket of the Young Progressive Party. He subsequently joined the All Progressive Congress.
  9. Personal Life: Ubah was wed to Uchenna Ubah, an Ahmadu Bello University alumna who studied business administration. They have five children.
  10. He was born in the family of Mr. & Mrs. Alphonsus Ubah in Otolo, Nnewi, Anambra State, as the first of their seven children.
