Even though there were external indications of affluence and ease, she states that she experienced feelings of isolation.

Additionally, she asserts that she subsequently had surgery related to her reproductive system, convinced that it would resolve her relationship problems.

At that time, she claims to have lacked a complete understanding of the medical implications.

Rose states that she later found out that the cumulative effect of using long-term contraceptives and having the procedure done caused permanent damage, making her unable to conceive.

She depicts the realization as transformative, noting that it arrived too late to change the outcome.
