Renowned Kannywood actress Mansura Isa has confirmed the end of her second marriage, describing the breakup as abrupt and deeply unsettling comparable to something out of a movie.
During an appearance on the BBC Hausa programme Mahangar Zamani, where she featured alongside veteran actress Fati Mohammad, Mansura shared that her decision to remarry was based on love. However, she later discovered that her husband’s intentions were far from genuine.
“I married for love. You know what they say, love is blind. But it turns out he had a different agenda, not real love,” she said.
In the same interview, Fati Mohammad pushed back against the common criticism that Kannywood actresses face frequent marital breakdowns. She argued that divorce affects women from all walks of life, not just those in the entertainment industry. Fati added that some men pursue actresses with ulterior motives, often driven by desire, and walk away once they get what they want. “People assume women refuse to stay in marriage because they’re used to luxury, but it’s not that simple,” she added.
Mansura’s second marriage came into the spotlight in June 2024, shortly after her separation from her first husband, actor Sani Danja, with whom she has four children Iman, Khalifa, Sultan, and Sudais. Their marriage was once regarded as a model relationship in the Kannywood industry.
Clips from her second wedding quickly spread online, showing that the bride price had been fixed at one million naira. However, Mansura has now revealed that the marriage has come to an end.
She recounted that she met her second husband through an uncle while working on a project in Lagos. Lacking a local representative for the contract, she reached out to the man for assistance in overseeing it. Over time, she discovered that he was using the romantic relationship to gain control over the deal.
“He suddenly proposed marriage, and I accepted, thinking he was genuine. He even said I could continue with my film career. We got married at night, and the next morning he left for Lagos,” Mansura said.
She revealed that during the wedding, he presented a contract and insisted she sign over authorization for him to manage a N4 billion deal on her behalf, citing his new status as her husband. From that point onward, he took over communications with the other parties and completely sidelined her.
“I never saw him again after that. He stopped answering my calls, and eventually divorced me,” she said.
Mansura explained that when people confronted him in Lagos, he claimed to have forgotten he was even married. He initially resisted issuing a divorce, but eventually gave in after facing pressure.
Despite the emotional toll, she said she has come to terms with the situation and accepted it as her destiny.
