The 42-year-old pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Victor Okoh, used a cutlass to assault his 38-year-old wife, Victoria Okoh, over accusations of adultery, according to police officers from the Akwa Ibom State Command.

According to ZINGTIE, the unsightly occurrence took place on Effiong Essang Street in the Oron Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State on March 10, 2025.

After his wife, Victoria, was brutally murdered, leaving the town in shock and grief, Pastor Victor Okoh was arrested and held for questioning.

The arrest was confirmed by DSP Timfon John, the Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who also said that the suspect is currently in police custody and that the deceased’s body has been placed at the General Hospital morgue, where an autopsy will be performed to support additional investigations.

Pastor Victor Okoh was accused of killing the wife and hiding inside the ceiling. The police found and detained him after he allegedly used a cutlass on her at around 5:20 a.m.

Before the conflict turned violent, neighbors claimed to have overheard the couple having a furious quarrel. According to reports, the night before, Pastor Okoh gave his wife the order to vacate the house and go to her parents’ house.

He later summoned her back inside, though, leaving the neighbors unsure of what caused the morning’s terrible turn of events.

When the victim screamed for assistance, the culprit allegedly locked the external protector and the main door, preventing neighbors from responding. Residents gathered around the house, disturbed by the commotion, but they couldn’t enter. After that, the neighbors called the police, who showed up right away.

The wife’s disfigured and lifeless body was found outside the house when the police pushed his door open. The police recovered the cutlass, which they believed was used in the attack, as an exhibit.

DSP Timfon John, the PPRO, said: “The Police have immediately commenced investigations into the incident. In an attempt to evade arrest, the suspect reportedly hid in the ceiling of the house but was eventually discovered and apprehended.”

In his response to the tragic event, Akwa Ibom State Police Commissioner CP Baba Azare denounced the heinous act and assured the public that justice would be served. He also encouraged citizens to use legal and peaceful methods of conflict resolution instead of using violence.

The suspect will face charges for the alleged murder under the state’s criminal laws, but only after the police have finished their investigations.
