Human Race Foundation Illuminates UNN Faculty

The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has been equipped with solar power installations courtesy of the Human Race Foundation (HRF). The project includes a 6 kVA/48 V Growatt inverter, a 20kWh/48V Cworth lithium battery, and 450 W mono solar panels.

HRF President, Dr Chima Alexander Oti, said the project was conceived by foundation members to improve students’ lives, emphasising that “power is essential for learning.” He added, “We thought about how we can improve lives; we pulled our members together, and they came up with this project, which I think is really a good idea.”

The foundation plans to provide renewable energy for the entire university, aiming for uninterrupted and sustainable power supply for students. Dr Oti noted, “The ultimate goal is to ensure that there is uninterrupted and sustainable power supply for the university students

A member of HRF, Afam J. Anyika, highlighted the initiative’s purpose: “to provide sustainable energy to aid students in learning, stressing the need for human empowerment in the country.”

Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Thaddeus Chidi Nzeadibe, expressed gratitude for the project, stating it will “herald an era of sustainable energy utilisation, climate change mitigation, and environmental sustainability in the faculty.” He assured that the solar facilities will be utilised effectively for the benefit of students and staff.

Professor Nzeadibe also noted, “The installation of solar panels is expected to not only reduce our carbon footprint but also contribute significantly to the ongoing efforts to promote environmental sustainability within our university campus… We gratefully acknowledge this collaboration with the Human Race Foundation and the positive impact it will have on both the students and staff of our faculty.
