Chairman of Heirs Holdings and founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Tony Elumelu, has stirred discussions after stating that luck played a significant role in his journey to wealth.

Speaking during a recent interview with YouTuber Korty EO, Elumelu explained that financial success is not always determined by hard work, intelligence, or physical strength alone, noting that luck can also be a major factor.

The respected banker and economist said that although he worked diligently throughout his career and occupied several positions in the corporate sector, he considers himself fortunate to have achieved his level of success.

The billionaire businessman also stressed that success comes with numerous challenges, encouraging young entrepreneurs to remain focused and persistent despite difficulties.

According to him, discipline, consistency, and dedication to work contributed greatly to his achievements over the years.

“I am here because of luck. At times, you don’t get successful because you are the best in class or because you are the fittest or most energetic. Sometimes, you need luck and I am a product of luck,” he said.

His remarks have generated reactions on social media, with many questioning why a businessman widely admired for his hard work and determination would attribute his success largely to luck.
