Chidimma Adetshina, the runner-up for Miss Universe, has declared her intention to give up pageantry.
In a recent interview with Silverbird TV, Adetshina stated that she had experienced trauma from pageantry.
She stated that she is leaving South Africa, her estranged nation, for personal reasons and moving to Nigeria.
“Finishing in the top 2 [at the Miss Universe competition] is still a shocker for me… Honestly, I am done. Pageantry was a real traumatic experience for me,” she said.
“People still don’t understand how I felt. There were times when I almost quit during the Miss Universe contest. I’m really done with pageantry. I want to focus on myself and establish who I am. And forward my education as well.”
Adetshina won the title of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania after placing first runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant.
After she withdrew from the Miss South Africa competition due to criticism regarding her nationality, she went on to win Miss Nigeria.
