Nigerian singer Rema has shared that he is not open to having children outside of wedlock. He also emphasized that he strongly disapproves of promiscuity, highlighting that he is a deliberate and intentional individual.
Rema made history as the first Black African artist to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
“I feel like there’s a need for us [family] to get bigger and become a whole empire if we can. And then neither do I want to wait for it to become a mistake before I decide to be a father. I’m very particular and I don’t really be h*eing around,” he said.
Rema also addressed his relationships with fellow artists Ayra Starr and South African singer Tyla.
“Ayra’s family, for sure. Tyla’s family. We’re good friends because I’ve been friends with Tyla even before everything.”
Meanwhile, American singer and actress Selena Gomez expressed her admiration for Rema in a conversation with Rolling Stone. She said she is “completely impressed” with his artistry and believes his future holds limitless potential.
“I am completely impressed with Rema as an artist. I believe the future for him is truly endless of what he can achieve. I was a fan of the song [‘Calm Down’] even before I jumped onto the remix. What really stands out for me is how the song continued to grow even a year after it was first released,” she said.
