Nigerian-American actress Ayo Edebiri has opened up about receiving “insane death threats” due to billionaire businessman Elon Musk.

She shared that after Musk posted a fabricated report in February 2024, claiming that Disney was considering her to replace Johnny Depp in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ series, she was bombarded with numerous death threats and racial slurs.

Musk, reacting to the report, tweeted: “Disney sucks.”

Edebiri feels that Musk’s response amplified the false report, leading to the hateful messages she received.

On her Instagram story, she wrote, “Just remembering when I got some of the most insane death threats and racial slurs of my life (idk if it’s the #1 moment, but for sure top 3) for a fake reboot of a movie I had never even heard of because of this man. LMAO. So not only is he [Elon Musk] double Sieg Heil-ing fascist, he’s an idiot but anyway.”
