‘I have never seen this in my life’ – Wike speaks on ending rift with Fubara

Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory’s Minister, has dismissed the likelihood of settling his conflict with Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara, claiming that Fubara and his team disregarded President Bola Tinubu’s orders at a peace conference.

During a Sunday media session in Abuja, Wike chastised Fubara for not following the president’s directives to end their dispute.

Former Rivers State Governor Wike was disappointed in Fubara and his followers.

Naijaonpoint is aware that the conflict between Wike and Fubara, which started when the latter became governor, has intensified into a struggle for control of the political and structural assets of the state.

Significant disruption has also been brought about by the disagreement in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The problem has gotten worse as a result of 27 MPs defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The dispute has complicated the state’s legislative procedures by giving rise to a parallel parliament and factional speakers.

Wike during the news briefing said,“I’m wondering, what conflict to resolve? Mr President, in his wisdom, called all parties. He said withdraw the impeachment notice, you go and do this, you go and do that, but they never returned to him.

“The Assembly withdrew the impeachment notice; you did one and two, and then you sent people to go to court. Elder, have you gone back to Mr President to tell him we can’t do three and four? Nothing.

“I have never seen this in my life — for a president to call parties, and one party goes back and says it’s political. Who does that?”
