Nyesom Wike, a 2023 presidential candidate, has revealed the main reason he was not selected for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s presidential ticket.

Wike acknowledged that permitting his followers in Katsina and Kano wear uniforms was a mistake.

According to ZINGTIE, Wike lost to Atiku Abubakar in the contentious PDP primary election, coming in second.

Wike further asserted that a conference was held at General Ali Gusau’s house before the primaries, during which several choices that did not favor him were made.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television on Thursday, Wike said: “I was going to win the 2022 PDP presidential primaries, but it turned out they were meeting in General Ali Gusau’s house.

“They told Saraki and Bala Mohammed to withdraw; they refused.

“The mistake I made was allowing my supporters in Kano and Katsina to wear our uniform.”

In his account of the events of 2022, Wike charged that previous Senate President David Mark had rigged the election by leveraging his background in military coups. He further claimed that Tambuwal had been promised the Senate presidency in return for staying out of the primaries.
