Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, has emphasized the vital role of Ibadan in Nigeria’s overall development.

Obi, who previously served as the governor of Anambra State, made this remark during a visit to the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja.

According to our correspondent, Obi and his entourage visited Ladoja at his residence in Bodija, Ibadan, on Sunday.

Among those who accompanied him were Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s 2023 governorship candidate in Lagos State, and Mr. Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, along with other associates.

The group arrived at the residence at approximately 10:55 a.m.

While speaking during the visit, Obi stated that his purpose was to pay respect to the Olubadan-designate, highlighting Ibadan’s importance in shaping Nigeria’s political, social, and economic future.

He expressed confidence that Ladoja, with his background as a former senator, governor, and accomplished businessman, would offer strong and impactful leadership to guide Ibadan toward greater heights.

He said, “The visit is about Nigeria, selfless leadership, leadership that is committed in turning out society around.

“Because, Ibadan is very strategic and central to the development of Nigeria. As a former governor, senator, business tycoon, he will have all what he needs to succeed. And I will support him as Olubadan for the sake of one Nigeria.

“Most of the schools in Ibadan, University of Ibadan for example were attended by many people from different parts of Nigeria and they are making it in all areas of human endeavors.”
