David Ogede, who was on the same flight as Comfort Emmanson during an incident involving an Ibom Air flight attendant on Sunday, shared his account of what happened.

Ogede spoke about the event on Thursday while responding to questions on The Morning Brief, a show on Channels Television.

The lawyer explained that the unnamed flight attendant ran into trouble after she approached Emmanson during the flight to request that she switch off her phone.

“I heard everything that transpired and yes, she was triggered. Sitting there, I actually felt humiliated with the way the air hostess was speaking to her. To be fair, Ibom Air instructed very clearly that everyone should switch off their phones, no flight mode.

“The air hostess spoke to Ms. Emmanson to switch off her phone. She told her twice. The second air hostess, who is the one blocking Emmanson, came towards us in the emergency and stood. Even from her posture, you would see that she came for trouble. And Ms. Emmanson had been struggling with her phone. I noticed she was trying to do some stuff, I don’t know. And so she told her again, switch off your phone.

“And Miss Emmanson said clearly to her, ‘I heard it. Please, the buttons on my phone are not working. They are not working, so I don’t know how to switch the phone off.’ And the woman said, ‘No, switch off your phone.’

“So Emmanson said, ‘Okay, I don’t know how to do it. Can you do it for me?’ The air hostess said, ‘I’m not touching your phone. I’m not touching your phone, just switch it off. I don’t have time for your nonsense. Just switch it off,’” Ogede said.
