Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo discussed the risks Northern Christian communities faced during previous Nigerian elections in an insightful discussion on Piers Morgan Uncensored.
He cautioned that “many Northern Christians would go to the grave” if former President Goodluck Jonathan had revealed the true election results, highlighting the unstable political environment and the dire dangers of religious and regional strife.
Dachomo clarified that the intimidating environment during elections affected political players’ choices and made Christian communities more vulnerable. He pointed out that these threats were not single occurrences but rather a larger pattern of persecution and targeted attacks connected to politically delicate times.
The priest noted that religious and regional fault lines are frequently used for political advantage and connected these threats to broader security issues in Nigeria. In order to stop future cycles of violence and polarization in society, he emphasized the critical necessity to resolve these divisions.
Rev. Dachomo demanded an open national dialogue regarding the demands made on elected officials and voters. He underlined that in order to prevent religious and ethnic identities from being used in next political elections, it is essential to recognize previous threats.
Analysts point out that opposing narratives like this emphasize the need for stronger institutions, credible election reforms, and proactive initiatives to rebuild confidence among Nigeria’s varied populations, even though government officials have rejected such assertions as inflated.
