Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has stated that he is prepared to act decisively and boldly in order to overcome obstacles and guarantee advancement for both the PDP and the state.
According to ZINGTIE, Governor Fubara’s announcement coincides with his ongoing conflict with Nyesom Wike, his predecessor.
Fubara made the comment on Saturday night at Government House during a visit to offer condolences to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State over the death of his stepmother, Hauwa Duguri, who died at the beginning of the year.
Speaking at the visit, Fubara stated that despite a minor delay, the importance of their relationship and their shared resolve to deal with pressing issues remained the top priorities.
“I know this visit is a bit late, but the most important thing is that we are here. We are here to comfort the Bauchi governor on the loss of his mother,” he said.
Speaking to Governor Mohammed, Fubara emphasised the value of taking charge when called upon and acknowledged the difficulties of leadership.
“I know it’s not an easy task, and I know names will be called, but it gets to a time when you must come out strongly and take a position so that things will be done rightly,” he said.
The governor of Rivers highlighted the importance of his visit, saying it was more than just a token of sympathy.
“What I’m doing now is to show everyone that we have a good relationship and that we are in this together to ensure we set things right,” he stated.
In addition, Governor Fubara promised that his cooperation with Governor Mohammed will continue beyond this visit, promising ongoing cooperation for the development and unification of both states.
“I can assure you that this is not the end of our visit. We will continue to work together for the unity and growth of both states,” he added.
Governor Mohammed responded by praising Fubara’s ability to maintain his position and control the political system in Rivers State in spite of conflicts and characterising him as an intelligent and calculating leader.
Mohammed reiterated his backing for leaders who respect equity and justice.
“We are delighted to receive you. Fubara is very calculative and strategic. First of all, I want to thank you for the empathy you have shown; your visit has truly made me happy,” Governor Mohammed remarked.
The governor promised his Rivers State colleague that Bauchi would continue to support him. He is also the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Governors’ Forum.
“Bauchi has always stood by you because you mean well. We will always align ourselves with justice, equity, and truth, which is why we will continue to support you,” he said.
“We must also congratulate you on your determination and dexterity in claiming what is rightfully yours, taking control of the party’s structure in your state, and assuming the leadership role,” he added.
