Popular Nigerian actress Nancy Isime has spoken out in response to calls for the suspension of her next movie.
According to ZINGTIE, Isime published a poster for the movie Blood Brothers a few days ago, in which she was shown clutching a gun and donning a niqab.
On social media, however, the poster sparked a chorus of criticism from devout Muslims.
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), which is furious with Isime for donning a niqab during a movie heist scene, demanded on Wednesday that the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) outlaw the contentious movie.
Isime, however, highlighted her focus on peace and personal objectives in a series of postings on her Instagram profile that seemed to be a cryptic answer.
She wrote, “Really out of the way. In my own world. No drama or gossip. Just goals and money. Peace is where I’m at.
“I don’t bother nobody and I’m not bothered by nobody. To protect my peace, I stopped taking other people’s projected opinions personal.
“Reminder: Your light often highlights other people’s insecurities & shortcomings, which they will then project back to you as a flaw. It is a coping mechanism. Attacking you makes them feel safer.
“Isime baby, omo ologo 5g. The brightest light. The city on a hill that can never be hidden. Nancy Isime. Big name with big force. Getting talked about does not faze me. Look at the people who are talking.”
