The Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF) has urged for a transparent and coordinated approach to managing party congresses and the upcoming national convention.

Hope Uzodimma, the Imo Governor and Forum Chairman, issued the call while delivering a communiqué following discussions with APC leaders in Abuja on Wednesday.

Uzodimma stated that every phase must be governed by transparency, consistency, and accountability in order to bolster trust and credibility within the party.

He said: “These standards must apply uniformly across all states, including where the party currently has no governors.

“The PGF reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to party unity and internal harmony.”

He emphasized that responsible leadership, clear communication, and collective discipline are crucial for bolstering public trust in the party’s democratic processes.

The governor reiterated the commitment of PGF to enhance internal democracy, fortify party structures, and push for reforms that foster transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness across the country.

He stated that the governors appreciated a briefing from the APC national chairman regarding the national e-registration and digital membership update.

“This has recorded significant growth, increased youth participation and integration of the National Identity Number,” he stated.

Uzodimma observed that the initiative would bolster data-informed planning, refine demographic insights, and fortify grassroots involvement throughout communities.

He stated that the governors endorsed the timetable and institutional framework approved by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for the upcoming congresses and convention.

He praised the party leadership, led by National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for steering the process.

Uzodimma further affirmed the importance of strategic interactions and state visits to strengthen grassroots structures and party unity.

He announced that visits would commence in Taraba on January 31 and extended a formal welcome to the governors of Taraba and Plateau into the Forum.

He reiterated his determination to work alongside the APC leadership to promote national development, strengthen democracy, and ensure governance focused on the people.

Uzodimma stated that the governors valued President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, declaring, “We will continue to partner with him to ensure good governance at all levels.”
