After learning of his wife’s infidelity with his childhood friend, a middle-aged man purportedly committed suicide, shocking the residents of Lawa hamlet in the Ogbaku autonomous community.

The terrible event that happened last Sunday has sparked a lot of conversation in the neighborhood.

The dead allegedly warned his wife and the man involved, a wealthy widower of the same kind, to stop their alleged relationship on several occasions, according to a witness named Gloria.

However, noting her lover’s wealth in contrast to her husband’s meager income, the wife allegedly swore to continue.

The man allegedly caught his wife and her lover in their marital bed on the day of the incident.

Later, he was discovered hanging from a tree close to the other man’s compound because he could no longer stand the humiliation.

“The husband had warned them several times, but she refused to stop, I believe catching them that Sunday pushed him over the edge.” Gloria said.

Residents of the town see the episode as a heartbreaking reminder of how unresolved marital troubles can turn into tragedy, adding to the village’s somber atmosphere.

Police have not yet issued an official comment regarding the case as of the time of publication.
