The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma, has urged newly enlisted officers currently undergoing training at the Police Training School in Nekede, Owerri, to remain committed to the principles and values of the policing profession, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a citizen-centered approach to law enforcement.
CP Danjuma delivered this message during an official visit to the training facility, where he came to evaluate the learning progress of the trainees.
He explained that his visit was in accordance with directives from the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu, who had instructed all state commands to carry out supervisory visits to police training centers nationwide.
Upon arrival, the Commissioner was greeted with a ceremonial parade by the Sentry Guard. He later addressed a total of 264 trainees drawn from both Imo and Abia States.
He encouraged the recruits to approach their training with seriousness, remain orderly and disciplined, and embody a high level of professionalism. This, he said, aligns with the Inspector General’s goal of building a police force grounded in service, legality, professionalism, and public trust.
To strengthen the learning process, CP Danjuma reiterated his commitment to capacity building. He announced that senior officers in the command who possess academic qualifications in fields such as Law, Psychology, and Criminology would be assigned to the training school on a rotational basis to elevate instructional standards.
During the visit, he inspected facilities including the dormitories, classrooms, and dining area. He expressed satisfaction with the cleanliness and organization of the premises, and praised the Commandant, ACP Suleiman Shuaibu, and his team for maintaining a disciplined and orderly environment.
The CP also took time to engage directly with the male and female recruits. The trainees expressed gratitude for the structured training and the Commissioner’s motivational visit.
As part of his support for their well-being, CP Danjuma made a donation of 10 bags of rice, a cow, and several gallons of cooking oil to supplement their meals.
Representing the state governor, the Governor’s Chief Security Officer, CSP Shaba Gboyako Adamu, also spoke at the event, assuring the recruits that the state administration would continue to provide support throughout their training period.
