Recent incidents of kidnapping, banditry, and the distribution of weapons and ammunition have all been denied by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

CSC Babawale Afolabi, National Public Relations Officer, NSCDC National Headquarters, Abuja, said in a statement on Wednesday that the report of its personnel’s arrests is false and does not accurately reflect the facts.

“To set the record straight, the arrests in question were made in October 2022, concerning individuals who were at that time personnel of the Corps but have been dismissed since 2023.

“It is important to clarify that the suspects acted independently and did not represent the NSCDC in any capacity,” the statement said.

The statement denounced any act of sabotage or security breach and confirmed that the NSCDC high command and management had put in place a number of reforms and measures aimed at enhancing national security.

It said that in order to guarantee the safety and security of all residents, these activities are carried out in close coordination with other security services.

The statement stated that Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni, OFR, the Commandant General of the NSCDC, has a zero-tolerance policy for any wrong doing, lack of discipline, or unpatriotic behavior among its employees.

In all of its intentions and deeds, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps is dedicated to maintaining the greatest standards of professionalism and integrity.

“Consequently, in our ongoing efforts to enhance security, the Corps has actively collaborated with various security agencies through training and retraining, joint task forces, and many other operations,” it said.

It recommended that all media outlets report with objectivity and accuracy, steering clear of sensationalism and misinformation, which can undermine public confidence and damage the Corps’ reputation.

Nonetheless, the NSCDC is steadfast and dedicated to protecting the country’s vital infrastructure and assets as well as the lives and property of its citizens.

The corps is committed to providing competent, disciplined, and honest public service.
