Katsina State’s Acting Governor, Malam Faruk Lawal-Jobe, has urged the Federal Government to take swift and decisive action in strengthening security measures to shield residents from the growing wave of violence in the state.
He made this appeal on Tuesday in Katsina, in response to the recent attack at Unguwan Muntau, Malumfashi Local Government Area, where 13 worshippers were killed during prayers at a mosque.
Lawal-Jobe stressed the urgency of Presidential involvement, highlighting the constant danger faced by innocent civilians.
“We respectfully request Mr President to give matching orders to all security agencies to holistically and decisively bring an end to these unprovoked attacks on our peaceful communities.
“The people of Katsina State deserve to live in safety and pursue their livelihoods without fear.
“Our farmers, traders, and families should not have to live in constant fear. “We need our President’s direct intervention to mobilise all necessary resources and provide the security architecture our state requires,” he said. The acting governor, however, expressed gratitude to security agencies currently operating in the state.
Despite the grim situation, the acting governor acknowledged the efforts of security personnel already deployed in the state. He offered special recognition to the Community Watch Corps and Vigilante Groups for their dedicated service in confronting criminal threats.
The state government reaffirmed its ongoing collaboration with federal authorities and security agencies, vowing to continue working toward sustainable peace and improved security for all citizens.
