On Friday, Israel issued a warning that it would strike a building linked to Hezbollah in a southern Beirut suburb and ordered residents to evacuate.

This marks Israel’s first such action since a ceasefire in November, which has been severely violated over the past week.

Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee shared a map showing a building in the Hadath suburb, claiming it belonged to the Iranian-backed Hezbollah group.

Gunfire was reportedly heard in the area shortly after the Israeli statement, which was interpreted as a warning for residents to leave before potential airstrikes hit the region.

In the meantime, the Israeli military announced that it had targeted Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon on Friday after intercepting a rocket launched from Lebanon. Hezbollah, however, denied any involvement in the attack.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz stated that Israel holds Lebanon accountable for the missile fire into the Galilee region in northern Israel.

“We will ensure the security of the residents of Galilee and will act forcefully against any threat,” he said.
