Israeli war cabinet holds third meeting on response to Iran’s attack

The war cabinet of Israel announced that it would reconvene for a third meeting in three days to determine how to react to Iran’s first-ever direct attack.

This is happening in response to worldwide pressure to stop the conflicts in the Middle East from getting worse.

The 300 missiles, cruise missiles, and drones fired by Iran onto Israeli soil on Saturday night “will be met with a response,” Israeli military chief of staff Herzi Halevi said, without providing any specifics.

Although there were no casualties and minimal damage from the incident, there are now more worries that violence stemming from the Gaza conflict is extending to other nations, raising the possibility of an open conflict between Israel and Iran, longtime enemies.

Iran carried out the attack in retaliation for an airstrike on its embassy in Damascus on April 1 that Israel was said to have carried out.

Over the weekend, President Joe Biden informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States, Israel’s main ally, would not take part in an Israeli counteroffensive.

Instead, Washington worked to strengthen diplomatic and economic sanctions against Iran on Tuesday alongside allies in Europe in an effort to deter Israel from launching a military counterattack.
