Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has formally complained to Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, about alleged misconduct by members of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCC) and Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), a controversial social media personality.

Her legal team, The Maverick Forte Legal, filed the appeal on July 29. It charges the NPF-NCC of bias and procedural violations during her recent interrogation in Abuja.

After music artists Naira Marley and Sam Larry filed accusations alleging cyberbullying and defamation, Iyabo Ojo made an appearance at the police facility.

Her lawyers revealed that during one interrogation session, VDM a citizen and a defendant in another case where Iyabo Ojo is a witness was permitted to enter the room.

The petition states that he was comfortably situated, helping himself to coffee among officers and the complainants, a move regarded as an unlawful breach of privacy and decorum.

Additionally, according to the paper, Ifeanyi Henry Uche, the Commissioner of Police, has an improper relationship with VDM, which allegedly allows him unrestricted access to the police facility. Ojo’s team also claims that the activist reportedly exposed confidential information from her interview online.

Iyabo Ojo wants the case to be moved to Lagos, an independent investigation to be conducted, and an end to what her attorneys call a “tainted and partial” investigation.

The actress further claimed that her initial petition against VDM, filed in December 2024, has been ignored. Due to safety concerns and health considerations, she has pledged to quit attending sessions at the Abuja office.
