President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said a new minimum wage law would shortly be sent to the National Assembly.

In his broadcast on Wednesday for Democracy Day, Tinubu revealed this.

He pointed out that, unlike the totalitarian administration, his government did not suppress organized labour.

“We have negotiated in good faith and open arms with organized labor on a national minimum wage, we will soon send our executive bill to the National Assembly to enshrine what has been agreed upon in the next five years or less,” he said.

Recall that on Monday, the President received the report from the National Minimum Wage Committee.

In the report, Organized Labour requested a minimum salary of N250,000, while the Federal Government suggested N62,000.

Governors and the Organized Private Sector have proposed N57,000 and N62,000.
