Hadiza, the wife of former Kaduna governor Nasir el-Rufai, has reprimanded her son Basir for voicing disapproval of President Bola Tinubu’s government.
After Bashir said that Tinubu’s media team was being affected by “a mental illness” due to the president’s recent attack on former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the two members of el-Rufai’s family began teasing one another on X on Tuesday.
Obasanjo called Sunday’s 2023 elections a “travesty” and asserted that in order to combat corruption and restore confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria has to select fresh, reputable candidates for the position with brief terms.
Obasanjo’s words offended the presidency, which questioned the previous president’s moral authority to say such a thing.
President Bola Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, stated that Obasanjo oversaw the most fraudulent election in Nigeria’s history.

The “poor choices in economic management made” during the previous president’s term have been a problem for succeeding administrations, Onanuga continued.
However, Bashir called Tinubu’s PR staff “ineffectual clowns” in his article for criticising Obasanjo at a time when “inflation is at 33 percent.”
One of the comments left on the post was from Hadiza.
The former first lady of Kaduna asked Bashir if he would “be saying this if your father were part of this government?”.
Bashir responded underneath that his father “would have resigned by now due to the administration’s failure.”
El-Rufai would have “dissociated” himself from the government, he continued.
