The Labour Party’s (LP) embattled National Chairman, Mr. Julius Abure, has been re-elected for a second term with no delegate vote needed.
Notwithstanding opposition from the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), his election was held.
Abure was declared the winner of the party’s national convention, which took place on Wednesday in Nnewi, Anambra State, by Mr. Ikechukwu Emetu, the chairman of the convention and deputy governor of Abia State.
Abure and Joe Ajaero, the leader of the NLC, have been engaged in an ongoing dispute.
Abure’s resignation as party chairman and the quick formation of a caretaker transition committee are demands made by the NLC to set up an official and inclusive national convention for the party.
