Biafran Security Forces Hiring Announced by Ngozi Orabueze, Simon Ekpa’s Deputy
A recruitment process for members of the Biafran security forces has been formally announced by Ngozi Orabueze, the deputy to Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed prime minister of the United States of Biafran Government in Exile, who is based in Finland. This action is a component of continuous efforts to strengthen the security framework for the country that has declared its independence.
In a statement made on December 25, 2024, titled Orabueze explained the plans for enrolling persons into the various branches of the Biafran military. Orabueze and Solomon N., the country’s secretary of defence, jointly signed the statement, which urged all eligible Biafran residents to actively participate in the creation of the country’s defense system.
The Biafran Defence Forces, the Biafra Liberation Army, the Biafra Navy, the Biafra Air Force, and special security squads are among the important branches of the Biafran security apparatus that the conscription is intended to bolster. Building a strong military that can successfully protect the United States of Biafra’s sovereignty is the aim, according to Orabueze.
“The United States of Biafra, under Prime Minister Simon Ekpa, is hereby calling upon all eligible citizens to join the Biafran Defence Forces, the Biafra Liberation Army, the Biafra Navy, the Biafra Air Force, and special squads,” Orabueze stated in her declaration. She went on to explain that the recruitment process will be decentralized and supervised by state commanders, deputy commanders, state administrators, and highly trained operatives. This strategy guarantees widespread and inclusive recruitment throughout Biafran areas.
Orabueze underlined how crucial this recruitment is to strengthening the country’s armed forces, especially given the difficulties presented by the groups she referred to as “reintegrated terrorists.” Orabueze claims that these groups are directly endangering the security and territorial integrity of the United States of Biafra by disguising themselves as Nigerian military and law enforcement officers.
The Biafran leadership’s ambition to build a self-sufficient defence system to shield the recently established nation from both internal and external threats is evident in the call for conscription. As pro-Biafra organisations continue to push for Biafra’s separation from Nigeria, the recruiting announcement coincides with an increase in regional tensions and turmoil.
Even as it looks for backing and recognition from other countries, the leadership of the United States of Biafra has stated time and again that it is committed to the defence and autonomy of its people. The recruitment campaign is part of a larger plan to increase military and civilian capabilities in preparation for future sovereignty conflicts.
