Omoyele Sowore, the former African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, has verified his release following his apprehension at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos.
When the activist returned to Nigeria, security personnel detained him. They were Department of State Services agents.
Sowore verified his release and said he received his passport from the Nigerian Immigration Service.
He posted on X: “I have just been released by the Nigerian Immigration after a brief detention and my passport, released back to me. #RevolutionNow”
The activist had alerted authorities on Saturday to a possible security agency plot to kidnap and frame him.
Sowore had said, “Yeah! All around in my home town, they’re tryin’ to track me down, yeah! They say they want to bring me in guilty.
“However Babylon must fall! #FearlessInOctober.
