Agunechemba, a recently established security group in Anambra State, has broken up a kidnapping syndicate.
According to report, the event took place in the Awka South Local Government Area’s Isiagu.
A day after being introduced by the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the agents raided two compounds in Isiagu on Saturday and took several syndicate members into custody.
In an interview following their operation, the group’s leader, Mr. Ken Emeakhayi, stated that state laws permit the confiscation of any home proven to be harboring kidnappers without a notification from the owner.
He said: “Now, these two buildings you are seeing here have officially become the property of the Anambra State government.
“Of course you know that a man who owns his property decides what to do with it. So, these two compounds you see here will be demolished.”
A video circulating on social media also showed the two buildings as they were being demolished.
