President Bola Tinubu has been urged by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) to intervene and prosecute Sunday Adeyemi, popularly known as Igboho, an agitator for the Yoruba nation.
MACBAN stressed that Igboho should receive the same level of justice as Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) if he could be found and put on trial.
This message was delivered in reaction to Igboho’s recent statements calling for the removal of Fulani herders from the Southwest by Baba Othman Ngelzarma, the National President of MACBAN.
After being held captive in the Benin Republic for almost two years, Igboho returned to Nigeria and charged Fulani herders with using violence against farmers in the Southwest.
Ngelzarma denounced Igboho’s remarks, calling them treacherous and illegal.
Ngelzarma claimed in a statement that he released: “We call on the commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), and relevant security agencies to arrest and prosecute Sunday Igboho for making this unlawful statement that amounts to treason because he is asking for the actualisation of Oduduwa nation.
“His statements are unlawful. If Nnamdi Kanu will be held behind bars for a similar offence, we see no reason why Sunday Igboho will be allowed to go scot-free without being arrested and prosecuted.”
