At the Nassarawa palace on Monday, Aminu Bayero, the deposed Emir of Kano, received a few district leaders.
It was rumored that the district leaders were at the palace to honor Bayero.
Muhammadu Sanusi was reinstituted as the Emir of Kano last Friday by Abba Yusuf, the governor of Kano State.
After the state government’s move, Bayero got a court order to prevent Sanusi from becoming Emir.
The state administration crowned Sanusi the Emir of Kano in defiance of the order.
Supporters of ousted Emir Bayero staged rallies and protests throughout the state in response to Sanusi’s reinstallation as Emir.
Governor Yusuf, enraged, issued an arrest warrant for Bayero right away for “disturbing the peace.”
A 2019 law that Abdullahi Ganduje, the governor of Kano at the time, used to remove Sanusi from his position as Emir was changed by the Kano State House of Assembly.
The emirate was divided into Bichi, Rano, Karaye, Kano, and Gaya by the 2019 legislation.
All jurisdictions had their emirs removed under the repealed version. However, all the ousted Emirs followed the governor’s order to leave their palaces, but Bayero did not.
