According to a statement from the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Comrade Abdulsalam Gwarzo, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, has reportedly resigned from his position. However, the state government has not yet provided official confirmation.
The political group, through a statement by its spokesperson Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, expressed that the decision was made after thorough deliberation and with the aim of preserving stability in the governance of the state.
It clarified that due to the existing circumstances, the deputy governor had faced challenges in carrying out all of his responsibilities effectively.
“This decision, though difficult, has been taken in the overall interest of the people and the stability of governance in Kano State,” the statement said.
This development comes in the wake of accusations made against the deputy governor by the Kano State House of Assembly.
The movement emphasized, though, that his resignation should not be seen as an acknowledgment of any wrongdoing.
“The Deputy Governor maintains his innocence and firmly believes that his records in office and public service remain a testament to his integrity and commitment to the people,” the statement added.
The group also revealed that the former deputy governor plans to dedicate his efforts to bolstering the Kwankwasiyya Movement, concentrating on restructuring and strategic positioning in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
As of the time this report was filed, the Kano State government has not provided any official confirmation or response concerning the reported resignation.
