Liverpool manager Arne Slot has revealed that his predecessor, Jurgen Klopp, has turned down two invitations to return to the Premier League club.
Klopp stepped down from his role at the end of last season after nine successful years at Anfield.
Slot succeeded the German and has made an impressive start with the Reds, leading them to the top of the league table. They also finished first in their Champions League group and are set to face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.
Despite Klopp’s departure, he has not returned to Merseyside since leaving. However, Slot emphasized that Klopp would be welcomed back to both the training ground and Anfield.
Speaking to the media, Slot said: “I invited him [Klopp] to the [Manchester] City and Real [Madrid] home games but he told me he was somewhere else in the world.
“He can come here any time he wants, to the games or even to this building [at the training ground in Kirkby].
“For me, he is more than welcome. In the first half of the season he was enjoying life, with his wife, and at this moment he has a job to do.”
